Vegan Southern-Style Green Beans

  • 14 ounces vegetable broth

  • 1 L. Cup Water

  • 12 ounces frozen green beans

  • 1/2 medium yellow onion (cut into thin strips)

  • 1/2 vegan Chik’n bouillon cube

  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Shallots

  • Almonds

  1. In a medium sauce pan, combine the vegetable broth and water over medium heat until it begins to gently boil.

  2. Reduce to low heat and add in the green beans, yellow onion and bouillon cube. Cook on low heat until the onions are translucent.

  3. While still simmering over low heat, add in red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and liquid smoke. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

  4. Remove the green beans from heat, and transfer to a serving dish. Top with shallots and sliced almonds as desired. Enjoy!!
