The Basics: Fruit Purée

Yields 1 1/2 cups of purée

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen fruit

  • 1/4 cup white sugar

  • 1/4 cup water

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the fruit, sugar and water.

  2. Cover the saucepan, and allow the mixture to simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.

  3. Remove the fruit mixture from heat, and immediately transfer into a blender or food processor.

  4. Blend until smooth and strain to remove any excess seeds or chunks of fruit.

  5. Allow the mixture to cool and thicken before use. Refrigerate and store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
